A Small YouTube Experiment

Someone took a couple of tiny videos of me answering questions at the recent Bath Festival of Children's Literature.  I thought I'd do a small experimental upload to YouTube.  It seems to have worked.  So here I am talking about how long it takes me to write a book, and giving some tips on how to be a writer to the kids at Kingswood Prep. It never ceases to amaze me that I can sound both quite squeaky and quite posh all at the same time.  Enjoy!  You may throw eggs if you wish.

Good advice! I think you sound awesome. Generally I sound like a man...
BTW I'm coveting your coat. I've had my eye on one like it and I like it even more now that I've seen it (or one similar) on someone.

You are far nicer than me! I would not be able to bring myself to say "good question" if I were to be asked one more time "how long does it take to write a book?'

AAAAAAARRRRGGGGHHHHHH!

Why do they ask that? It is so self-evidently daft since all books are of different lengths and complexity and they know that because when you ask them, "how long does it take to READ a book?" they say "depends how long it is."

GGGGGGGRRRRRRRR!!!

You are a wolfy of the first order - sneaky and posh - I am so impressed! And, like Janey, I am coveting your coat and may have to relieve you of it.
Brilliant Lucy, love the way you handled the questions!

Carole Anne--more like the blind leading the blind than clever, I think. Just pressed buttons and hoped for the best.

Janey--awesome is good. As for the coat, it came from Joe Browns and is this season, so they probably still have one. http://joebrowns.co.uk

Mary--the thing is that I'm talking to primary age kids--probably 7-9 yr olds, and they have no idea, so it's fine for them to ask. Anyway, it lets me tell my ten-minute story (the one that makes other authors want to throw tomatoes and eggs). The one that gets me, for some reason, is the 'what's your favourite book'. However many times I answer that, I always have a moment of panic.

Nicky--hmmn. Sneaky and posh. I like it. Better than squeaky any day. As for the coat, see above!

Yes! It's the same one I've been looking at. I love Joe Brownes!

I'm impressed! YouTube!! You look highly confident and very smart. (And damn, now I come to think, I had a sneaky plan to get my daughter to make me a book trailer, which I would then put on YouTube. How come she escaped?)

Can I ask a question, miss? How do I get this egg off my laptop?

Infuriatingly professional and glam, you look :-) Well done!
